Jauja Mestana – Striped Aguayo Altar Cloth from Peru
The Story & Details
Imagine unfolding a textile so vivid it changes the mood of the room before you've said a word.
The Jauja Mestana — also known as a Misa Andina — is woven in Peru on traditional looms in a joyful striped aguayo style, then individually hand-cut and finished to size by our founder Patricia. Its bold palette of lilac, white, black, blue, red, turquoise, and grey draws on the striped-textile tradition found across the Andes, worn and displayed for generations.
Traditionally used for altars, despacho ceremonies, and spiritual décor, the Jauja Mestana brings warmth and intention into any space — and works just as well as a creative material for sewing projects, table runners, or handmade accessories.
